Infancy to Independence
a cooperative playgroup for families with children
Each semester runs for 16 weeks, one in the fall from September to January and one in the spring from February to June.
We do not
meet during the summer, however we do set up informal play dates through out the
summer for the children to maintain their friendships and so the parents can get
together, talk, and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Orientation
Orientation is held prior to the start of each semester and
every member is required to attend. Orientation is an opportunity to meet all
the members of the semester, learn more about what your role for I to I will be,
and answer any questions you may have.
General
Membership Meetings
We have 3 meetings spread throughout the semester and encourage
members to attend all them, it is required that you attend at least one. These
meetings are important as major decisions, such as the distribution of program
funds, are made at this time. This is also an opportunity to get to know parents
from other days and discuss how your day is going with parents on your day.
Brunch
Each day has a brunch twice a semester in lieu of their
discussion time. The brunch is an opportunity to have fun together, eat
delicious food, and discuss how the semester is going. During each brunch, a
simple review of your day is completed.
Fire/Police
Station Field Trips
Each semester we have a field trip to the fire or police
station. This is not only a fun time for us but also an opportunity for our
children to see our civil servants in a non-threatening situation. If a crisis
situation ever arises in your home, your child will have a positive experience
with our civil servants, which will hopefully lessen any fears.
Nature Walk
This year, members decided to go on a Nature Walk to a local watershed near the church. Each child got a paper bag to collect rocks, leaves, or anything else they found along the way. They got to see birds, bugs and a toad as well as get outside and be in nature with their friends.
Work
Party
The work party is held at the end of each semester and all
members are required to attend. At the work party we clean and organize the toys
for the next semester, throw out old or broken toys, and look and what we need.
This is also an opportunity to meet members from other days and have fun with
each other.
